Sourcing desk comparing factory quote packets

Buyer, intermediary and factory roles

edge of dock leveler manufacturer

A search for an edge of dock leveler manufacturer is a request for comparable factory replies, not a claim that this desk owns a plant. We restated the same rated capacity, geometry and excluded site work so each reply can be read against the same line. Documents after a match still belong to the named factory.

Brief assembly

We collect equipment type, rated capacity, platform and lip units, pit depth or dock height, power type, quantity and destination. Lift height language from other families is only used when the quoted machine actually travels. We do not invent missing dimensions.

Factory matching

We send the same written brief to factories that publish this family. A dealer list or a different model series is not proof that the quoted machine fits the building. We do not say a plant is audited unless you attach an audit you already hold.

Quote comparison

We line up machine scope, freight, pit work, anchors and commissioning. A lower headline number that omitted electrical extras is not a cheaper total. We compare procurement cost, not an unpublished market discount.

How a comparable request is built

  1. 1

    Lock units

Copy lb capacity, ft platform and in lip length from the public family language you intend to buy. Bare numbers without units cannot be compared.

  2. 2

    Name exclusions

State whether freight, pit work, anchors and commissioning sit with the factory or with the site contractor. See scope separation.

  3. 3

    Send one brief

Each factory answers the same capacity basis, geometry and destination window. Optional budget and supplier preference can sit beside the requirement.

  4. 4

    Review documents after match

Request drawings, nameplate data and any certificate that belongs to the quoted item. Opening a public directory is not a submitted RFQ.

What stays unconfirmed until a named factory answers

Lead time, packing, nameplate capacity at the stated load center and any duty cycle claim remain factory statements. This desk does not transfer those statements onto our letterhead. If two replies use different voltage, phase or shop-air assumptions, we send them back rather than averaging them.

Request factory quotes on one brief

  • Same rated capacity and geometry on every reply
  • Site extras named, not hidden in a lump sum
  • Documents requested after a match, not assumed
